Orientation

GCEP_2Boosted by its thirteen years of experience and enriched by the achievement of many activities and projects, the Goree Institute is currently positioned itself to be more relevant in its interventions on a wider scope, and to keep pace with the changes noted in the sub-region and on the continent at-large.

Our main commitment is to reflect more deeply over the causes of conflicts in Africa, promote reconciliation on the continent and participate in the creation of conditions conducive to sustainable peace.

The programmes of the institute are the instruments through which we put into practice our organisational vision and mission. The indispensability and interdependence of the axis of research, reflection and intervention inform our programme and activities. This provides the basis for sustained innovation, creation and pertinence.

We believe that without a critical intellectual and interpretative basis, research and advocacy are both impossible. We feel that without a concerted effort to integrate abstract premises in terms of realities on the ground, theory and intervention are both futile. It is also apparent that without action driven by a commitment to seek solutions toward meaningful change, theory and research are both irrelevant.

Responding to the environment in which we operate; we strive to create tools for educational modules and interventions. These tools will be put at the disposal of other actors on the ground. We have also committed ourselves to regularly and painstakingly making known the application, progress and impact of our activities.

Our intervention method consists of developing partnerships with NGOs, international agencies, governments, sub-regional and continental bodies working for the same objectives. Our aim is to be relevant and useful in an innovative and exemplary manner.
