This program focuses on networking, production tools and dissemination for a better understanding of African realities. It is well known that access to resources is one of the major difficulties facing modern African artistic and literary creativity. The nature and specificity of the creation act are often constrained by such aspects as the need for a “conducive atmosphere”, appropriate technical tools, peaceful space, etc.
Within a context of scarcity of financial resources for African artistic creation, the Gorée Institute intends to help give a new boost to the sector by providing other types of services, including providing production tools, proposing expertise, and making available friendly spaces within a creative atmosphere.
Our objective is to decisively contribute towards making Africa’s divergent views and experiences better known, and thus facilitate a more informed understanding of the realities of the continent; in particular those relating to experiences of peace and conflict.
Through encouraging and publishing a diversity of views and perspectives we aim to decisively change a set of stereotypes and paradigms prevailing on the continent today. The Gorée Institute also focuses on the initiation, facilitation and consolidation of networks of creators in various fields, supporting the production and dissemination of works and enhancing interactions with our partners in other areas of our programs reach.
