ACCOMODATIONS

Gorée Island, classified by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, has for the most part, kept intact its historic architecture and its natural surroundings. The decor of our residences draws on a harmonious mixture of traditional African and contemporary designs. We are in a position to offer our clients excellent and world class accommodation services.

We make block reservations for rooms in our residences and in various partner residences and hotels on the island, and in Dakar when necessary. We also assist in checking participants in and out while providing luggage assistance and catering for special needs, such as telephone services, laundry, etc.

The George Soros Residence

	This recently renovated six-bedroom residence is a magnificent villa dating back to the XVIII century. The rooms in this residence are all fully air conditioned with ensuite bathrooms and private balconies with breathtaking sea views. The furnishings are in natural colours and made of hand woven fabrics. Each room has its own concept and style with an elegant range of cast iron furniture with most woodwork created by local craftsmen.
In effect, each room depicts a page of modern African history: Nelson Mandela and the apartheid era; Amilcar Cabral, a key figure in the struggle against Portuguese colonisation of Africa; The Ashanti Queen Yaa Asantewa, who stood up against British attempts to defile the sacred in Gold Coast; and, the Women of Nder in Northern Senegal, who preferred to be martyrs than surrender to the Maurs. The Soros Residence is also equipped with a small meeting room which can accommodate up to 8 persons and a lounge with cable television (including a variety of channels - CNN, TV5, EURONEWS, etc) and a selection of videos.

Malolo: The Institute's Headquarters

Our headquarters are located in the building named MALOLO, meaning "a place of reconciliation" in Papouasie Creole. This spacious and delightful villa has been converted into an office building on one side and luxury guest rooms on the other. The pride of Malolo however, resides in its exotic garden full of a variety of unusual tropical plant species.

Along with these two residences are seven other carefully selected locations on the island with whom we are in partnership, all of which are adapted to the needs of our clients.

We carry out group reservations in our residences and other residences managed by our partners on the island and in Dakar when necessary. We also offer assistance for "check-in" and "check-out" of participants, luggage transfer and other specific services.
