Since their inception, the Institute's
programmes have been the instrument through which we put into practice our organisational Vision and Mission.
From 1998 to 2000, the Institute ran several
programmes, among them: The Reflection Programme, The
Cultural Programme, The Institutional Building
Programme, The Numeracy and Statistics Programme, and The Community Development
Programme.
Each of these programmes had a specific mandate and function built
upon reflection, investigation and action. The indispensability and interdependence of these elements informed our
programmes, activities and institutional identity.
Despite a degree of overlap between them, our
programmes were primarily organised around three clusters of operation:
Reflection, in which we promoted intellectual and artistic
production and maintained a visionary and pre-emptive focus on contemporary African problems and challenges
Research, in which we subjected the most promising ideas arising out of the
Reflection phase to empirical investigation, and
Intervention, where these innovative ideas were put into action.
As such, the Institute's various programmes and their respective projects moved dynamically between critical and creative reflection, research and practical intervention. For an in-depth look at our past
programmes, please click on the link below.
